Aircraft to Join Rangers In Search for Lost Hunters

South Vancouver Island Rangers in force and possibly two aircraft were to head into the rugged Sooke Lake area to look for two missing Victoria hunters, lost since Sunday noon. Despite heavy wet snow and rain, volunteer searchers had combed the area west of Shawnigan Lake the previous day trying to find some trace of the missing pair, named as Frank Browne, 24, of Feltham [Road?], and Craig Massie [age uncertain], of Newbury [Street?]. A searcher at the north end of the lake reported seeing what he took to be a camp fire on the opposite shore at about 10 a.m. but on going to it saw nothing. Weather officials said there was a possibility of clearing conditions in the afternoon which should help the search.
