Summary
Shateira Wynde's prayers were answered at 9:40 a.m. on the Wednesday when a team of search and rescue volunteers found her walking on the Juan de Fuca Trail. "In her own words, she was praying to God that somebody would come by pretty soon and pick her up," said Sooke Search and Rescue manager Cliff Henry. She had managed to notify authorities that she needed help and described the area she was in to the dispatcher, who told her to stay put; communication was then lost with Wynde.

Archivist's note
The only article in the archive that names Cliff Henry, and the earliest to give a Sooke Search and Rescue office-holder the title 'manager'. PEOPLE_INDEX.md records him as "search master" for the 2000 China Beach rescue and notes that a Times Colonist photograph of him by John McKay exists; the article read here uses 'manager'. Louise Dickson also wrote the 2007 Sooke Potholes rescue story in this archive.
