Summary

Sooke Potholes Regional Park was to open officially on the Sunday with a series of special events starting at noon, at which a search and rescue group would rappel down the canyon wall. The newest Capital Regional District park is a five-kilometre strip of land by the Sooke River purchased by The Land Conservancy [name partly illegible]. Formerly known as Deertrail, the property was a development site upstream from Sooke Potholes Provincial Park, and the land had been cleared of most of the old tanks and structures. Parking was limited and visitors were advised accordingly.

The only community-event appearance by the team in the archive, and a useful cross-reference: the Deertrail site named here as the new regional park is the same site the 2007-07-14 waterfall rescue article places the two 2007 rescues at, "upstream from Sooke Potholes Provincial Park". The park opening and the rescues are two years apart at the same location.
