Archivist's note

The document that describes both Meikle and Weber as founding members of Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue, and the only one in the archive to do so. It sits in tension with the rest of the record: both appear in the 1997 Times Colonist article as, respectively, a Sooke Volunteer Fire Department deputy and the Sooke Search and Rescue ground manager, six years before the Juan de Fuca service existed. What "founding member" means here - founders of the 2003 CRD service, or of the earlier Sooke team - is not resolved by any document in the archive. Elida Peers of the Sooke Region Museum was honoured at the same ceremony.
