Summary

A sprawling search was under way for a woman believed to be missing in East Sooke Regional Park. About 50 people combed the park by air, sea and ground for the 59-year-old East Sooke woman on the Thursday night and all day Friday, and the search was expected to resume the following day. It started late on the Thursday night after the woman's husband discovered her car in the Aylard Farm parking lot of the rugged regional park, said Sooke RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Wright; her cellphone and purse were left in the vehicle. The husband last saw his wife around [time given beyond the region read].

The Sooke News Mirror account of the same search, also held here (2014-01-08), records that the family asked that the woman's full name not be released and that the paper used her first name only; the Times Colonist named her. The project's own convention is first names only for search subjects.
