Sooke RCMP called off the search for a 59-year-old woman who disappeared in East Sooke Park on the Thursday. "Anywhere they could possibly think she may be has been searched extensively." Dozens of search-and-rescue volunteers had been combing the park. "[The search is sus]pended for the time being," Sooke RCMP Staff Sgt. Steve Wright said on the Monday. "The whole park was covered. Every trail and inside. Off the trail was covered." Her car had been found at Aylard [Farm] with her purse and cellphone left in the parking lot.

The closing report of the January 2014 search and the article whose headline states plainly what the other coverage only implies — the missing woman had been a search and rescue volunteer herself. The Sooke News Mirror account held in this archive records that Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue continued to hold search exercises in the park afterwards, informally continuing the search. She was never found. This page was recovered from inside the ProQuest bulk export already held in the archive, where it had been listed as referenced but not held.
