Summary
Search and rescue crews safely located a 19-year-old man who went missing in Sooke Potholes on Sunday afternoon. Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue senior manager Vicki Webber said they received a call around 3:15 p.m. for a hiker who hadn't returned after a group of seven split up hiking near Empress Mountain. Unconfirmed social-media reports named the man as Peter Koltronis. The group split, with one subgroup heading to the summit; the man went ahead to relay a message to that group and took a wrong turn, becoming lost. Webber said he was not dressed for the weather and had left his pack with the other group; he was located tired, cold and wet, with a few cuts and bruises, but in good condition.
