Summary

The body of 16-year-old Langford resident Andre Courtemanche was discovered at Goldstream Provincial Park on Saturday evening, eight days after he left home on Jan. 1 and disappeared into the night without a cellphone, wearing a fleece jacket and hiking boots. West Shore RCMP Const. Nancy Saggar said police do not suspect foul play and the cause of death was still under investigation. The discovery was made by Metchosin and Juan de Fuca Search and Rescue, working with police, searching the park. Andre left home around 7 p.m. after a family argument, after his father threatened to take away his video games; Andre struggled with depression and anxiety and had expressed thoughts of self-harm, according to his parents Glenn and Denise Courtemanche. West Shore RCMP and the BC Coroners Service conducted parallel investigations.
