[Members of the Alberni] Valley group's hoist team were deployed on an Airspan helicopter, while a fire department member was able to reach the hiker and provide initial first [aid]. Two people were then lowered from the helicopter, splinted the injured leg and put the hiker in an evacuation harness for transport to a nearby beach area.
