Summary
Search and rescue teams looking for a missing woman named Mitchell had been told they would probably have to see her to find her, as she was not responding to people calling for her. Her father began searching at dawn on the Saturday and was "holding up very well" but "obviously very distraught", said Hillard, who did not want to think about Mitchell spending a third night in the park: "We want her out of there. Last night was a bad night because it was so rainy. Hypothermia is very high on our list. She would become less mobile, disoriented and would want to curl up. Today's a nice day. We're hoping the sun and heat will draw her out." As the hours dragged by, searchers fought to remain optimistic. "We're worried," said Vickie Weber of Sooke search and rescue. "Is she in the park? Is she out of the park?"

The last article in the archive to name Sooke search and rescue before the Juan de Fuca service was established in 2003, and one of only two pre-2003 articles to quote Vickie Weber directly. PEOPLE_INDEX.md identifies the other speaker as Linda Hillard, SAR manager for Vancouver Island south, and also records a Roy Meikle of Peninsula Search and Rescue quoted on this page; the fragment "Meikle, director of Peninsul[a]" is visible in the OCR, supporting that.
